They say, “Charity begins at home”. It’s something I relate to since my family and I have been engaged to charity works to help everyone who’s in need. Growing up and seeing my parents extend their hands to help is something I cherish up until now. It’s a thing that our family do together without any pressure and expectations.
This year, a friend of mine told me a story about the kids who are battling cancer confined in National Children’s Hospital. The story touched my heart and urged me to extend my helping hand, thus the idea of Fashion with Compassion came about. Fashion with Compassion is my way to express my love for fashion and charity.
With the support of my Nuffnang Philippines family, Fashion with Compassion – a charity bazaar – took off last June 5, 2016 at the Metrotent in Pasig City. This event was joined by my blogger and celebrity friends. Of course, the said event wouldn’t be possible without the support of Bench, OLX, KitKat, Komono, Print Social, Storytell and Nisce Skin.
Weeks after the event, the team and I went back to National Children’s Hospital to award the collected pledges from the bazaar. Together with McDonald’s – Binondo, we also brought some meal for the kids to eat. We also took our time to talk with the patients and their parents.
Seeing the smiles on their faces gives me hope and gratitude. Seeing the patients who are battling a notorious disease at such a young age pushes me to help even more.
I thank everyone who helped and extended their hands for this cause. I’m truly happy that, with everyone involved, Fashion with Compassion was really a success. I really hope to continue this every year and help these kids give another chance to live a better life.
